DIY Watercolors

Feeling artsy and creative, but don't really feel like wasting money on some colors you might only use once or twice? Or are you like me and enjoy using watercolors so much that you're having to buy new ones often just so you can continue with your art project/s? Well how about you make your own watercolors. It's safe, easy, and you get to pick and make your own customized colors.

You'll Need:

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 3/4 cup vinegar
  • 2 tbsp corn syrup
  • 1cup corn starch
  • Food coloring
  • Ice cube tray or small container/s

Directions:

  1. Mix the baking soda, vinegar, corn syrup, and corn starch in a pourable container.
  2. Using a fork quickly whisk it until everything is fully combined.
  3. Pour the mixture into the ice cube tray (about 3/4 full) or individual containers.
  4. Add the food coloring to the individual portions and stir, mix the dyes to get a variety of colors.
  5. Let dry, they normally take around two-three days to fully dry.
When your colors are finally ready dip your paintbrush and paint away! Now you can enjoy your very own homemade watercolors.
